FEMA To Hold Outreach Meeting On Floodplains

It will involve new floodplain maps & regulations.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A Community Coordination and Outreach meeting concerning floodplain maps will take place on Tuesday, November 27th at Winchester Hall in Frederick starting at 2:00 PM,and continuing through 4:00 PM.  . Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with the Army Corps of Engineers, State of Maryland and local officials will be on hand,  and citizens will get a chance to offer input. .

The first part of the meeting will be geared toward community officials to ensure that new floodplain maps are accurate, and to discuss floodplain ordinance regulations that meet the minimum requirements of the National Floodplain Insurance Program, according to a news release from the County.

The second part of the meeting will provide an opportunity for citizens to discuss floodplain insurance implications that could result from the new maps.

Residents can download the maps at www.msc.fema.gov. Copies will be available at the meeting.  They can also be picked up  at  the Frederick County Planning and Permitting Offices at 30 North Market Street in Frederick.

The meeting will be broadcast live on FCG TV, cable channel 19 and 1085, and webcast at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/FCGTV.

County officials remind citizens that the floodplain map revision is a federal process, and Frederick County has no role in drawing up the new federal maps.
