Smart Driver Classroom Training to be Offered by AARP

 

The course will be held at various dates and times.

 

The American Association of Retired Person’s (AARP) Frederick Chapter 636 is partnering with the Frederick County Senior Services Division and the Carroll County Bureau of Aging to co-host six four-hour Smart Driver classroom training classes at local senior centers.

The Classes will include:

Research-based safe driving strategies.
Information on the effects of medication on driving.
Preventive measures to reduce driver distractions.
Proper use of safety belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and new technology found in cars today

Techniques for handling left turns, right-of-way, and roundabouts.
Information on determining when it’s no longer safe to drive.
State-specific rules and regulations in 19 key areas, including construction zones, child safety seats, school buses, cellphone use and more.

Classes will be offered at the following senior centers, with a one hour lunch break. An optional lunch for $5 may be reserved with 1 week notice. Check with center for details.

These classes are being offered in partnership with AARP Frederick Chapter 636, Carroll County Bureau of Aging and Frederick County Senior Services Division.

Cost is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-members.
Check or Money Order made payable to AARP is due on Day of Class. No Cash accepted.
Must present Drivers License and AARP member card on day of class to receive member rate.
