Other officers gave first aid
Rockville, Md. (DG) – A Montgomery County Police Officer suffered a medical emergency while investigating a shoplifting incident at the Westfield Wheaton Mall on Tuesday.
The officer was investigating the theft inside the mall when the suspect ran.
The officer chased the suspect, called for backup, and then collapsed.
Police quickly responded. They noticed the officer was struggling with a medical issue and gave him first aid.
The officer was rushed to Holy Cross Hospital and is in critical but stable condtion.
The suspect was arrested.
