Last Day Of School For FCPS Students Is June 19th

Schools reopen on Sept. 3rd.

Frederick, Md (KM) It’s probably one of the eagerly awaited days especially for kids. The Frederick County Public School System says the last day of school for this year is Wednesday, June 19th.. Schools will be dismissed two hours early on that day for a teacher work session. The last day for teachers is Thursday, June 20th.

In a statement on its website, the School System says this assumes that there are no more school closures due to inclement weather. Frederick County Public Schools closed six days during the 2018-2019 school year due to bad weather.

The School System says 12-month employees will begin four-day workweeks starting on Monday, June 24th. During that time, schools and offices will be open Monday through Thursday, and closed on Friday. The only exception is on Thursday, July 4th, when schools and offices will close for the Independence Day Holiday, and then reopen on Friday, July 5th. School System employees will work extended hours Monday through Thursday to make up for having the Fridays off.

The five-day work week resumes on Monday, August 19th.

The first day of classes for the 2019 and 2020 school year is Tuesday, September 3rd. Fall sports will begin on Wednesday, August 14th.
