Two Injured During A Shooting At A Local Church Over The Weekend

It took place during a funeral.

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of a shooting at a church over the weekend. .

On Saturday afternoon at around 2:45, deputies and fire and rescue units were dispatched to Jackson Chapel in the 5600 block of Ballenger Creek Pike where a funeral was taking place. Authorities found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to area hospitals with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the area before emergency personnel arrived.

Detectives say the shooting is believed to have taken place following an altercation between the individuals at the funeral. The Sheriff’s Office says it does not believe this is random shooting.

Jackson Chapel says on its website that the shooting took place in the church parking lot, and no church members were involved. It also says its Sunday services will continue as scheduled.
