Severe Thunderstorm Warning For South Central Frederick County Till 6 PM

 

 

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Western Montgomery County in central Maryland...
  South central Frederick County in north central Maryland...
  Central Loudoun County in northern Virginia...
  North central Fairfax County in northern Virginia...

* Until 600 PM EDT.

* At 511 PM EDT, the front edge of damaging winds ahead of a line of
  severe thunderstorms was located along a line extending from 7
  miles northwest of Boyds to Round Hill, moving southeast at 25 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
           to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
           damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
           downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
           Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include...
  Germantown, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Leesburg, Broadlands,
  Lansdowne, Lowes Island, Brambleton, Poolesville, Potomac, Ashburn,
  Montgomery Village, Sterling, North Potomac, Redland, Great Falls,
  Countryside, Purcellville, Middleburg and Round Hill.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Wind damage with these storms will occur before any rain or
lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover.
SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from
windows.
