Flood Warning Extended To 3 PM In Most Of Frederick County

Roads continue to be closed in Frederick City and County.

 

Frederick, Md (KM).   The National Weather Service has extended the Flood Warning until 3:00 PM for both southern and northwestern Frederick County.  Areas which could see flooding are Frederick, Harry Grove Stadium, Ballenger Creek, Walkersville, Braddock Heights, New Market, Clover Hill, Discovery-Spring Garden, Green Valley, Point of Rocks, Linganore-Bartonsville, Adamstown, Jefferson, Myersville, Woodsboro, Buckeystown, Monrovia, Doubs, Park Mills and Boliver in the southern part of the county.  Areas to the northwest  that could experience flooding are Thurmont, Emmitsburg, Wolfsville, Sabilllasville, Fourth Ritchie, Pleasant Walk, Utica, Graceham and Lewistown.

The Weather Service says by 12:40 PM om Monday, emergency management officials  reported  continued road closures.  The heavy rain has ended, and the water is expected to continue subsiding.  But due to ongoing flooding, the Flood Warning has been extended.

Motorists who come upon closed or flooded roads are urged to “turn around, don’t drown.”

A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or occurring, and all residents who are affected by the high waters need to take action immediately.
