There were no injuries.
Hancock, Md (KM) An electrical problem is being labeled the cause of a fire at the Hancock Museum on Friday morning.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says fire fighters were dispatched at around 10:215 AM to 42 West Main Street in Hancock for a building fire. 54 fire fighters spent ten-minutes bringing the flames under control. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $10,000 to the structure, and $10,000 to the contents.
Investigators say the fire originated in a light fixture in the ceiling and the cause was failure in the wires that supply power to the light ballast.
The museum is located on the first floor of a two-story building, with vacant apartments on the second floor.
