Walk to End Alzheimer’s Comes to Frederick Next Month

Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.

Frederick, MD – Alzheimer’s affects almost 6 million people each year and the Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to finding a cure.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is happening in Frederick on Sunday, October 13th at the Harry Grove Stadium.

Julie Preatt Cassaday of the Alzheimer’s Association said the disease affects more than just the person diagnosed.

“Almost double the amount of [ alzheimer’s patients] are caregivers,” Cassaday. “And most of those people are seving as caregivers and are unpaid for those positions, because they’re taking care of a spouse or loved one.”

Cassaday said the Alzheimer’s Association is the thrid-leading researcher to cure Alzheimer’s, behind the US Government and China.
