Frederick Police Collect More Than 500 Lbs. Of Medications At Drug Disposal Event

The Department has a place where residents can drop off unused medications 24/7.

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick Police report that 500.8 pounds of medications were collected last Saturday during Drug Take Back Day held at the former Trinity School on New Design Road. These unwanted and expired drugs will be destroyed by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.

In addition to the Frederick Police, last Saturday’s drug disposal event was also  hosted by the Frederick County Health Department, US Drug Enforcement Administration, and Whitesell Pharmacy.

The next drug disposal event is in April, 2020.

Authorities say if you couldn’t make this year’s drug take back day, you can get rid of your unwanted medications at any time. Frederick Police have installed a “medication drop box:” behind their headquarters on West Patrick Street, in the rear of the court house. Residents can get rid of these expired, unused and unwanted medications, including controlled dangerous substances 24-hours a day, seven-days a week with no questions asked.  Police say the drop off center will be monitored by video surveillance.
