Sentencing Postponed For Teen Charged With Attempted Murder

His attorneys objected to prosecutors showing of an enhanced surveillance tape in the court room as part of the sentencing procedure

Frederick, Md. – Sentencing for a 16-year-old charged as an adult in connection with a shots-fired incident in April in the Mountain View Apartment Complex has been postponed. .

The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says William James Sewell will be sentenced next Thursday, December 19th at 9 a-m.

Sewell had pleaded guilty in October to attempted first-degree murder and illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and was scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday. His attorneys objected to prosecutors showing of an enhanced surveillance tape in the court room as part of the sentencing procedure..

Sewell’s attorneys were familiar with that evidence, but said they had never seen an enhance version of the tape.

Circuit Court Judge Scott Rolle agreed to defense requests to postpone sentencing until next week.
