A portal approaching the span was damaged Friday evening.
Frederick, Md (KM) Roddy Road near the covered bridge near Thurmont will be closed for the time being. The Frederick County Office of Highway Operations says a vehicle damaged the overhead portal south of the historic span on Friday evening, and it will need to be repaired.
The bridge itself was not damaged.
Repairs will be made by the Office of Highway Operations.
Emergency personnel have been notified.
