ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he’s submitting emergency legislation to tap extra money to prepare for response to coronavirus. Hogan said Wednesday the measure would grant him authority to transfer funds from the state’s rainy day fund.
The bill would allow the governor to transfer up to $50 million from the fund. Hogan says he will submit a $10 million emergency appropriation request as part of a supplemental budget to the General Assembly this week.
The governor also announced that the Maryland Emergency Management Agency is raising its activation level to mobilize additional resources across state government.
Maryland has no confirmed cases of coronavirus at this time.
