Governor says we are at the beginning of this crisis.
Annapolis, Md (KM) The number of coronavirus cases in Maryland continues to grow. The State Health Department says there now 157 new cases in the state, bringing the total to 580.
The Frederick County Health Department is reporting a total of 13 local cases of COVID-19.,. There are five in Washington County; seven in Carroll County; and 164 in Montgomery County.
The Governor’s Office says the National Capital Region is reporting more than 1200 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
“We are only at the beginning of this crisis in our state, in the National Capital Region and in America,” says Governor Larry Hogan, in a statement. “As I have repeatedly said, we should continue to expect the number of cases to dramatically and rapidly rise.”
A few days ago, the Governor said the state’s unemployment insurance program is ramped up and ready to serve those who lose their jobs due to the coronavirus. “Today, we are also seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of Marylanders filing for unemployment,” he said. “We are going to do everything we can to help people and small businesses get back on their feet.”
