Lcoal COVID-19 Statistics Are Favorable In Frederick County

The county has not recorded any coronavirus deaths in three weeks.                                                               

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The health metrics are holding steady in Frederick County when it comes to the coronavirus. The Health Department says no deaths have been reported from COVID-19 for the past three weeks. That number currently stands at 113.

But there has been a slight increase in the number of people contracting this virus., and that includes a growing number of residents between the ages of 20 and 39. Previously, it was the elderly population who were most susceptible to the virus.

Health officials remind people to avoid large crowds and gatherings; practice good hygiene such as frequent hand washing; wear a face covering; and stay at least six feet away from other people while in public.

“We need to stay vigilant to protect our parents,  grandparents and friends,” says Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner, in a statement. “We want to avoid the increases other states are seeing, and that will require every one of us doing our part.”

The Health Department says there are currently 2,655 positive COVID-19 cases in Frederick County, which is an increase of 21 from Wednesday. The seven-day positivity rate is 2.4%. That’s the percentage of people testing positive for the coronavirus over the past seven days out of all of the testing conducting during that time period.

As of Thursday, 12.6% of Frederick County’s population has been tested for COVID-19

The Frederick County Health Department is holding testing clinics at these locations:

· Friday, July 17 – Thurmont Municipal Building, 615 E. Main Street, 5-7 p.m.

· Saturday, July 18 – Black Lives Matter/Asbury United Methodist Church, Baker Park Band Shell, Frederick, 2-4 p.m.

· Monday, July 20 – Rescue Mission, 419 W. South St., Frederick, noon-2 p.m.

· Thursday, July 23 – Rescue Mission, 419 W. South St., Frederick, noon-2 p.m.

· Thursday, July 23 – Brunswick Railroad Square, 5-7 p.m.
