Shots Fired On I-270 Monday Evening

Frederick, Md (KM) Maryland State Police continue to investigate a shots-fired incident on Interstate 270 Monday night.

Troopers from the Frederick Barrack responded to I-270 at Doctor Perry Road where a motorist reported hearing what sounded like gunshots. That person also said a group of motorcyclists had closed down the highway and were doing stunts and burnouts.

When authorities responded, the bikers left I-270 to the park and ride lot at Route 80. They fled when the first trooper arrived on the scene.

State Police conducted an investigation and determined that about 50 bikers closed down I-270 so they can do their stunts and burnouts. That’s when a caller reported hearing shots. Troopers found shell casings in the area, supporting the report that multiple shots were fired.  But there was no evidence anyone or anything was struck by bullets. State Police say they’ve notified hospitals and police agencies in the region.

Anyone who has information on this incident is asked to contact the State Police Frederick Barrack.. The number to all is 301-600-4150. Callers can remain anonymous.
