COVID-19 Cases Continue To Increase In Frederick County

But the positiivity rate remains low.                                                                           

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Coronavirus cases in Frederick County continue to increase. The Health Department says as of Thursday afternoon the number of local confirmed cases of COVID-19 stand at 3,289; that’s up by 22 from Wednesday.

The number of deaths has remained at 114 for the past several days.

The Maryland Department of Health is reporting 102,229 cases of the coronavirus across the state as of Thursday. That’s an increase of 580 from Wednesday. The number of deaths is 3,531, which is up by 21 from the day before.

The seven-day positivity rate in Frederick County is 2%. . That’s the percentage of patients who tested positive for coronavirus out of all of those tested over a seven-day period.

The Governor’s Office says the positivity rate in all of Maryland’s counties is below 5%.. The statewide rate is 3.29%,

Also, the Governor’s Office reports that total hospitalizations from the COVID-19 virus dropped to 455, with ICU levels down by 32% since July 25th. The 445 total hospitalizations is a decrease of 20 in the last 24 hours. There are 107 ICU beds in use. Those levels are down by nearly 32% since July 25th, the Governor’s Office says.

The focus by state health officials on addressing the rising infection rate among young people appears to be paying off. The Governor’s Office reports that the positivity rate for Marylanders under 35 is below 4%. It also says the positivity rate among residents under 35 has declined by 44.2% since July 23rd to 3.79%. The positivity rate among Marylanders 35 and older is 2.9%.
