SHA is replacing the current Rt. 355 span over Bennett Creek.
Urbana, Md (KM) Traffic will be detoured along Route 355 (Urbana Pike) over Bennett Creek in Urbana on Saturday.
The State Highway Administration says motorists traveling along Urbana Pike between Campus Drive and Big Woods Road will be diverted to a new temporary roadway around the work zone. Single lane closures will take place during the switch between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
The contractor, Concrete General in Gaithersburg, will use signs, barrels and cones to alert motorists and guide them as they navigate this section of Route 355.
This is part of a $17-million bridge replacement project which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2022. The current Route 355 span over Bennett Creek was originally built in 1924.
