Frederick County COVID-19 Cases Top 10,000

Most cases are in the Frederick city area.                                                                              

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A rather grim milestone has been reached in Frederick County when it comes to the coronavirus. The Health Department reports as of Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased to more than 10,000. The exact number is 10,065, which is 189 more than on Tuesday. . Most of those cases are in the Frederick city area.

The number of deaths remains at 163.

The seven-day positivity rate is 9.1% . That’s the percentage of patients who test positive out of all those tested over a seven-day period.

Around the region, the Maryland Department of Health is reporting 7,024 COVID-19 cases in Washington County, and 127 deaths. In Carroll County, there are 4,763 coronavirus cases, and 155 deaths. Montgomery County is reporting 42,975 COVID-19 cases, and 1,032 deaths. In Howard County, there are 10,463 cases of the coronavius and 167 deaths.

The Department is reporting statewide, there are 257,862 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, which is 2,465 more since Tuesday. The number of deaths in Maryland from the coronavirus is 5,402, which is up by 49 from the day before. Maryland’s positivity  rate is 7.36%. There are 1,776 people hospitalized for the coronavirus.
