Part Of Westbound I-70 In Frederick County To Undergo Improvements This Coming Week

That area of I-70 will be closed during the overnight hours.

Frederick, Md (KM) Pavement repairs are expected to take place on Interstate 70 between Route 85 (Buckeystown Pike) and the exit ramp to southbound Interstate 270…

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration says the work, which will include pothole repairs, is expected to begin on Sunday July 11th, at 8:00 PM, and continue until 5:00 AM on Monday, July 12th. .It’s expected to take one week to complete. The right lane of westbound I-70 will be closed for more than one mile.

The work on the ramp is expected to take two nights. The southbound I-270 ramp at exit 53A will  close  on Sunday from 8:00 PM, and reopen on Monday at 5:00 AM..

Traffic will be detoured. SHA says motorists will be directed to use the US 40 Alternate to eastbound I-70, and then take the southbound I-270  exit.

The contractor, Charles J. Miller, LLC, will be using electronic board signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work zone and closures.
