Fire spread by Monday’s high winds
Taneytown, Md. (DG) – High winds fueled a fire that destroyed two barns in Carroll County Monday afternoon.
The Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 7300 block of Middleburg Road in Keymar shortly after 12 PM after someone passing by noticed the flames.
The blaze quickly grew to one alarm. Due to the high winds, the fire spread quickly from one barn to another. Rescue crews were able to contain the fire to just the two barns.
Damage is estimated at $300,000, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
