Hagerstown, Md. (KM) – Maryland State Police say a road crew worker was killed in a hit and run accident in Washington County early Monday morning.
At around 4:19 AM, troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to Interstate 70 near Maryland Route 66 for a pedestrian working construction who had been struck by a motor vehicle. The investigation determined that road crews were removing construction barrels from the left lane of I-70. A man pulling barrels was struck. He’s identified as Anibal Aleman Ramos, 34, of Capital Heights, Maryland. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The striking vehicle stopped for a short time on the right shoulder, but left the scene, State Police say..
Troopers say the vehicle is described as a gray or silver pickup truck, possibly a Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma. Anyone who information about the striking vehicle is asked to contact the State Police Barrack in Hagerstown. at 301-766-3800.
I-70 was closed for about an hour after the crash. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating this case.
