Update: Suspect In Hagerstown Murder Turned Himself In

Update – Ty Shan Dotson turned himself in on Tuesday at the Hagerstown Police Department and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center.

Officers are searching for the suspect.

Hagerstown, Md. (KM) – A suspect has been identified in a homicide in Hagerstown late Friday night. Ty Shan Jerome Dotson, 16, of Hagerstown is charged as an adult with 1st-degree murder, 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault,  2nd-degree assault and handgun violations. The victim is identified as Taron Shawnta Trice, 44, of Silver Spring.

Police say the two had an altercation that evening. At one point, Dotson located Trice in the parking lot of the Stone Ridge Apartments and Townhouses.  Trice was shot multiple times.

Authorities say neither Dotson nor Trice lived at the housing complex.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Dotson. His location is unknown at this time, and police say Dotson should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has seen him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911..
