Schulz Named Member Of Hood College Board Of Associates

Frederick, Md (KM) She served in former Governor Larry Hogan’s cabinet. Now Kelly Schulz has taken on a new role as a member of Hood College’s Board of Associates which consists of alumni, parents, friends and business leaders who share their time, talent and experience with Hood College and its students. That announcement was made on Wednesday by Hood College.

Schulz served as Secretaries of Labor and Commerce during former Governor Hogan’s administration. As Secretary of Labor, Schulz helped grow Maryland’s apprenticeship program to more than 10,000 apprentices statewide. It received national recognition as one of the top programs in the United States.

In February, 2018, Schulz was  picked as Secretary of Commerce, and served in that post until December, 2021. She unsuccessfully ran for Governor in 2022.

She is now the CEO of the Maryland Tech Council. Schulz says being a member of the Board of Associates will help students connect with the fast growing life sciences and technology industries. “It is a privilege to join the Hood College board of Associates at such an exciting time for the school,” Schulz says in a statement. “Hood College was instrumental in helping me discover my passion for public service and economic development. I look forward to offering my time and insights to the betterment of the school and its students.”

Schulz graduated from Hood in 2006.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kelly to the College’s Board of Associates,” says Hood College President Andrea Chapdelaine, in a statement. “As CEO of the Maryland Tech Council, Kelly brings connections that will directly benefit our students. As a Hood alum, she carries a special understanding of the Hood experience and will serve well as an ambassador for the College as a whole.”
