Suspect In A Murder In Frederick Arrested In Virginia

Hakeem Sampson was taken into custody early Tuesday morning.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick Police say a suspect wanted for a homicide nearly two years ago has been apprehended in Virginia.  Fairfax County Police took Hakeem Earnest Sampson, 27, of Washington DC,  into custody on Tuesday morning in the area of Blacklick Road and John Marr Drive.

He is charged with 1st-degree murder for fatally shooting Michael Isiah Olaniyi on July 23rd, 2022 in the 300 block of North Market Street.

At 3:30 AM on that day, a police officer heard a gunshot in that area. Police responded to the scene, and found Olaniyi with a gunshot wound.  He was taken to Frederick Health Hospital where he died.

Frederick Police say Sampson has been evading capture since then.
