Suspect Arrested Following Chase, Standoff In Frederick

He was apprehended in a wooded area.

Frederick, Md (KM) One person was taken into custody following a vehicle chase and standoff in the Ballenger Creek area Thursday night.

Citing a police spokeswoman, the Frederick News Post reports that officers responded to the Woodspring Suites along Ballenger Center Drive at around 7:00 PM for a domestic incident. Authorities say a man suspected of the assault fled the scene in a truck, leading police on a chase along Interstate 70 and back to the hotel.

That individual barricaded himself in his truck for two hours. The Special Response Team and police negotiators were dispatched to the scene. The man got out of his truck and went into a wooded area. He was apprehended by a K-9 officer.

One officer suffered minor injuries. The person who was hurt in the assault was taken to the hospital.

No other details are available.

Frederick Police were assisted by the Maryland State Police during the vehicle chase on I-70.
