Frederick, Md (KM) Some repair work is taking place Thursday afternoon on the Interstate 70 bridge over Catoctin Creek near Myersville. “Our crews found what we call a dead puncture. It’s basically a pothole on top of the bridge, that driving surface there. So it’s nothing structural,” says Charlie Gischlar, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
He says repair work is expected to last the remainder of the day. “It’s closed right now as crews are working on it, on westbound 70 the bridge over Catoctin Creek which is right near Maryland 17 there in mid-Maryland,” he says. “That right lane is going to be closed probably until ten or 11 tonight until the repair can be completed.”
Gischlar says motorists heading onĀ I-70 westbound in that area can instead use US 40, and then get back on I-70 from the Md. 17 exit.
