Washington DC (KM) Some money for transportation projects is coming to Frederick County.
During its monthly meeting on Wednesday, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board approved nearly $10 million for projects across the Washington Metro Region,, including $530, 718 for two projects in Frederick County.
There’s $330,718 for School Pedestrian Corridors Sidewalk Safety in Brunswick. The funds will be used to complete design work for sidewalks on H Street. TPB says recent surveys revealed a large number of near-misses between pedestrians and motor vehicles in Brunswick. The city’s population is growing, and its comprehensive plan calls for filling the sidewalks gaps as an immediate need and safety concern, especially near schools. H Street is the highest-ranked priority corridor, TPB says
The Board is also providing $200,000 for design work for the Monocacy Village Trail completion in Frederick. This money will be used to finish design work for a shared-used path connection from the Fredericktowne Village and Monocacy Village trail stubs to Frederick’s trail network downtown. TPB says this is part of number of projects to improve safety and connectively for walking and biking on the eastern side of Frederick.
Other cities and counties receiving TPB funding include Washington DC, Montgomery County, The City of Rockville, College Park and the City of Gaithersburg.
