Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies Arrest A “Peeping Tom”

Hagerstown, Md. – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Hancock man in connection to a Peeping Tom incident.
 
On June 5, 2024, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a Peeping Tom incident. A juvenile female advised that she had been trying on clothing at Target, 17213 Cole Road, Hagerstown, MD when she observed a black cell phone being held under the door of the changing room by an unknown white male.
 
 
During the investigation, the male was identified as Terry Lee Smith, 48, of Hancock, Maryland. A search and seizure warrant was executed at Smith’s residence, and Smith was also found to be in possession of electronic devices containing Child Pornography.
 
 
An arrest warrant was issued and served on Smith and he is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center on no bond.
 
Smith has been charged with several counts of Visual Surveillance – Private Area, several counts of Peeping Tom, several counts of Private Place – Prurient Intent, and numerous counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
