Frederick, Md. (DG) – A manhunt for a Gaithersburg murder suspect has come to an end in Texas.
Montgomery County Police say 39-year-old Luis Antonio Quintanilla is accused of killing his partner, 35-year-old Maritza Ferman Sorto.
Officers were called to the couple’s home on Centerway Road early Sunday morning after a 911 caller reported gunfire. When they arrived, they found Sorto outside the house suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives identified Quintanilla as the shooter and secured a first-degree murder warrant.
The next day, police in Irving, Texas, arrested him after people who knew he was wanted for murder reached out to authorities. Quintanilla is now being held in Texas, where he awaits extradition to Maryland to face charges in Sorto’s death.
