Rockville, Md. (DG) – Montgomery County Police have arrested 18-year-old Yoel Christ Tie in connection with the January 8, 2026, shooting death of 43-year-old Gavin Boothe in Silver Spring.
Officers responded to the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road around 7:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Boothe was found in the street with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video showing Boothe in a verbal altercation with two men shortly before the shooting. Tie was identified as one of the suspects and has been charged with second-degree murder and felony use of a firearm during a violent crime. He is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
